Himanshu Nayak is a seasoned banker with over 23 years of experience and currently serves as Assistant Vice President at a leading private bank in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. A passionate environmentalist and committed social change-maker, he donates 20% of his salary to social causes, significantly focusing on plantation efforts.

On July 3, 2015, he launched the “Green Parikud” initiative, beginning with a plantation drive in his village alongside local youth. Over time, the movement gained momentum as village residents, students, teachers, government officials, panchayat representatives, and Self-Help Group (SHG) members joined the cause. The initiative gradually expanded to neighbouring villages, blocks, districts, Bhubaneswar, and even other states.

As the leader of the Green Parikud and Climate Change Solution groups, he has spearheaded the plantation of 70,000 trees, 110,000 palm trees, and 100,000 neem seeds under the Green Parikud initiative.

He also actively supports www.netzero-planet.com, a platform dedicated to helping individuals, businesses, and government bodies calculate their carbon footprints, adopt sustainable practices, and plant or gift trees for special occasions, contributing to the vision of a NetZero India by 2050.

In addition to his environmental initiatives, Himanshu is the author of Climate Change Solution, a comprehensive book that explores the causes, impacts, challenges, and solutions to climate change, with a focus on the Indian context. The book offers 365 actionable steps to combat climate change and outlines a detailed roadmap for achieving Net-Zero emissions in India by 2050.
