Empower Young Minds. Build Climate Leadership. Create Change Beyond the Campus.
Colleges and universities shape tomorrow’s professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, innovators and community leaders.
Through Climate Conscious Bharat, NetZero Planet Foundation invites colleges, universities, ITIs, polytechnics and other higher education institutions to connect climate awareness with measurement, leadership and practical action.
Today’s Students Will Make Tomorrow’s Decisions.
Climate change concerns every profession.
An engineering student may design future infrastructure. A management student may lead businesses. A science student may develop new technologies. Commerce students may influence finance and investment, while humanities students may shape public understanding.
Climate consciousness should therefore extend across disciplines not remain limited to environmental science.
A Climate Conscious College is a participating higher education institution that voluntarily works to improve climate awareness, understand its environmental impact and encourage practical action among students and staff.
The programme can bring together:
The programme can include eligible colleges, universities, government and private colleges, autonomous colleges, engineering and management institutions, medical and healthcare institutions, ITIs, skill development institutions, polytechnics, teacher education institutions and other higher education institutions.
Students know their marks, attendance, expenses and mobile data usage.
But Do They Know Their Carbon Number?
The NetZero Planet Carbon Calculator can help students understand how energy use, transportation, food, consumption and waste contribute to their estimated Carbon Footprint.
After calculating, ask one simple question:
Students can choose practical actions such as saving electricity and water, reducing food waste, walking or cycling suitable short distances, using shared/public transport where practical, buying consciously, repairing and reusing, reducing unnecessary single use products, or planting and caring for trees where appropriate.
Interested students can help conduct campus awareness, promote Carbon Calculators, encourage Climate Pledges, support environmental activities and engage communities.
Encourage ten people to begin their own climate conscious journey. Only documented participation should be reported as programme impact.
Faculty members can provide continuity by guiding student teams, coordinating activities, supporting learning and research, engaging with the Foundation and documenting programme progress.
Institutions can establish a Climate Conscious Campus Club or integrate the programme with an existing Eco Club, NSS, NCC, Green Club or other suitable student platform.
The Club can become a hub for:
Use the:
Depending on methodology and available data, the assessment can cover:
The objective is not merely to generate a number. It is to understand:
After awareness and measurement, institutions can select priorities appropriate to their circumstances:
A college campus can become a:
Students can undertake projects such as Campus Carbon Footprint Studies, Energy Audits, Water Audits, Waste Characterisation, Food Waste Studies, Mobility Surveys, Tree Census, Biodiversity Mapping, Heat Mapping, Sustainability Behaviour Studies and Climate Communication Projects.
Institutions can encourage students to identify environmental challenges and develop practical solutions in areas such as:
As future research initiatives develop, opportunities can also include student projects, internships, surveys, environmental data analysis, behaviour change studies, biodiversity documentation and field research.
Technical education can connect climate consciousness directly with future careers.
Programmes can explore:
This helps connect climate conscious thinking with practical skills, employment and responsible resource use.
Students can extend climate awareness to nearby schools, villages, urban communities, markets, parks and other appropriate public spaces.
Active colleges may also voluntarily support a nearby school or community through climate awareness, Carbon Footprint education, Climate Pledges and appropriate environmental action.
Recognition should reflect documented participation not registration alone.
Any recognition should specify the relevant participation period and should not imply government accreditation or independent environmental certification.
Keep registration simple.
Institution Name, Type, University/Affiliation where applicable, State, District, Rural/Urban, Block/City, approximate student strength and faculty/staff strength.
Name, Designation, Official Email, Contact Number and Preferred Language.
Climate Awareness, Carbon Footprint, Climate Pledge, Student/Faculty Climate Ambassadors, Campus Carbon Assessment, Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity, Climate Research and Community Climate Action.
The authorised representative should confirm permission to submit the registration and agree to programme terms and the Privacy Notice.
CSR partners can support Climate Conscious Campus Programmes across selected institutions, districts or larger geographies.
The programme can combine:
This creates a structured programme focused on climate literacy, youth leadership, measurable participation and documented action.
Your institution does not need to solve every environmental challenge immediately.
Let's work together for a sustainable, prosperous and climate conscious Bharat.
